SIS30321 - Certificate III in Fitness

Establish yourself in fitness with this entry level qualification. SIS30321 - Certificate III in Fitness will give you a broad range of knowledge that you will need to work as a fitness instructor.   You will learn the basic knowledge needed to succeed in areas like fitness program instruction, provision of healthy eating information and introduction of exercise for older clients.

Successfully completing this course will allow you to seek employment as a qualified fitness instructor. You will be able to take your skills and work anywhere in Australia, or move into further study to expand your options within the fitness industry.

DELIVERY METHOD:

Online Learning:  All of our theory learning is delivered via our online learning centre that you can log in to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  The learning material includes videos, PowerPoint Presentations and Online Text Books.  You can choose to watch the videos on your phone or read the documents on your tablet, PC or print out hard copies.  The choice is yours.

Practice Sessions:  The practice sessions allow you to gain the confidence of working with real clients.  You will work with a total five people over a series of training sessions in a fitness centre environment.  These sessions will take a minimum of 30 hours to complete.  You will create a portfolio along the way and have this signed off by your practice clients and your workplace supervisor.

Practical Assessment:  The final step in the process is to complete the live Practical Assessment.  This step can be completed by submission of your recorded Practice Sessions or by attending a Practical Assessment Day.  These sessions are held in various locations and specific dates throughout the year.

Entry Requirements:

  • Access to an Approved Fitness Facility and at least 5 Practice Clients.
  • Internet enanbled computer along with applications to read and create word documents, excel spreadsheets, powerpoint presentations and pdf along with reliable internet access.
  • Competency in spoken and written English and demonstrate satisfactory levels of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN).
  • Access to a functional webcam or other device for recording and uploading audio-video of your role plays and other practical activities and be able to upload to google drive, drop box or a video sharing platform such as YouTube or Vimeo.
  • Be at least 15 years of age (students under 18 year of age will need to provide parent/guardian consent).
  • Be prepared to set aside sufficient time to review additional reading materials and online textbooks that are provided throughout the course.
